What Do You Get for Your Hard Work?

Have you worked hard all your life…for what?

Work hard and enjoy sushi! All you can eat!
Solomon, in his wisdom, gives us guidance that God placed on him. We should eat, drink, and enjoy the benefits of our work. Those are truths that we can hang onto and more ideas like…everything is beautiful. Have you enjoyed the snow this winter? It is beautiful, relaxing—so peaceful and quiet. The flakes, sometimes enormous, drifting down from the sky above. Ah. Sweet peace—until it is time to fire up the snowblower and move some of that snow off the sidewalks and driveway! It won’t be long and we’ll be wiping the sweat from our brow…and seeking shade from the intense summer heat. Bring on the sunshine!

What about eternity? We have the hope of eternity…but actually everyone will live eternally either with God or apart from Him. I choose to have Jesus Christ as my Savior and live with Him forever. Search for Him for yourself. Those who look for Him will find Him…as again Solomon wrote with God’s inspiration.

I love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me. Proverbs 8:17

Solomon had good guidance from his father, King David. David pointed his son toward knowing and serving the Lord God. If we are wisely seeking the Lord, we should encourage our children and others to do the same.

So now, with God as our witness, and in the sight of all Israel--the LORD's assembly--I give you this charge. Be careful to obey all the commands of the LORD your God, so that you may continue to possess this good land and leave it to your children as a permanent inheritance. "And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the LORD sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. 1 Chronicles 28:8-9

What do you get for your hard work? Hopefully a reward of an exquisite home in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our Father’s house has many rooms.

God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end. So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God. Ecclesiastes 3:9-13

Prayer – Lord God, You made everything beautiful for its own time. You planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of Your work from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11. May we feel Your love and protection in our lives—and be filled with joy in the anticipation of eternity with You.

Meditate. Happy for eternity?

Verse of Salvation ~ Hear me as I pray, O LORD. Be merciful and answer me! My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "LORD, I am coming." Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don't leave me now; don't abandon me, O God of my salvation! Psalm 27:7-9
