A clean heart—morally and ethically pure. This is a plea for purification of the heart. The heart being the innermost part of a person—the soul or conscience, the will or intellect, the center of the emotions, passions and courage—is the controller our lives. Paul wrote to Timothy about Christians having genuine faith and a pure heart—filled with love. A clear conscience will certainly result in a pure heart.
The purpose of my instruction is
that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a
clear conscience, and genuine faith.
1 Timothy 1:5
How is
your heart? Is your conscience clear or do you feel the need for the
purification of your heart? Sure. We all know that at one time or another…we
have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory…His will for our lives. We need God
to create in each of us…a clean heart.
Who can say, "I have cleansed
my heart; I am pure and free from sin"? Proverbs 20:9
Create
in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me
from your presence, and don't take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the
joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Psalm 51:10-12
Prayer
– Dear Jesus, create in me a clean heart. Only You, Lord God can cleanse my
heart and purify my very soul. I am trusting You. Thank You for caring about
me…and loving me so much.
Meditate on
cleanliness.
Verse
of Salvation ~ For since their (Israelites)
rejection meant that God offered salvation to the rest of the world, their
acceptance will be even more wonderful. It will be life for those who were
dead! Romans 11:15
