What Are You Watching For?

Prayer – Lord, I am watching, waiting, and praying for Your imminent return. We don’t know just when that will be, but You told us to be ready. Open my eyes to just that—being ready—prepared. Help me to show others that You, Jesus, are just who You said You are—the Son of God…and the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

So you, too, must keep watch! For you don't know what day your Lord is coming. Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected. Matthew 24:42-44

Keep watch.
Will you watch for Jesus' return?

Meditate. Could we set our calendar, clock, or sundial to remind us to be ready?

Thief or burglar? The two words are translated from the same word as noted in the Strongs concordance (G2812). It could be defined as an embezzler or stealer—including one who would steal information or withhold information, like a false teacher. We are told to store up our treasure in heaven—that would include the treasure of relationships, as well as information like the truth of the Lord. Hide it in your heart—and in heaven.

Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Luke 12:33-34

Jesus told us to keep watching and to be ready. How are you spending your time? What are you getting ready for today…and for the rest of your life?

Verse of Salvation ~ All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance--an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 1 Peter 1:3-5
