Prayer – Lord, You are amazing…and I am honored to “belong”
to You. Like everyone else, everyday I make choices. Please help me to choose
wisely—to choose to keep myself pure—to pursue righteous living, faithfulness,
love, and peace.
But God's truth stands firm like a foundation stone
with this inscription: "The LORD knows those who are his," and
"All who belong to the LORD must turn away from evil." In a wealthy
home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and
clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones
are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil
for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the
Master to use you for every good work. Run from anything that stimulates
youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and
peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. 2
Timothy 2:19-22
Meditate on companionship with the Lord and with those who
trust Him.
When I was growing up most families had a couple of sets of silverware—the everyday stuff and the special silver flatware that was the parents’ wedding gift, kept in a felt lined box and only brought out for Christmas, Easter, and very special events. That’s similar to what Paul was writing to Timothy concerning the special utensils for honorable use. That silverware had to be polished—to be kept clean and ready for use. Are our lives like that? We need to take a daily assessment of our lives. Does a little polishing need to be done? Or is a deep cleaning necessary? Repentance isn’t just a one-time event. Jesus has called us all to “be ready” for His return and He wants to find us pure and holy. That will only happen if we pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace.

Honoring the Lord.
I like what Paul wrote about having friends of like minds…Enjoy
the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
Companionship—a camaraderie—a friendship. That is just what Jesus wants us to
have with Him and to share with our friends. We become like the people we hang
out with—so we need to choose wisely and have friends of like minds when it
comes to being holy. Children and teens should be encouraged to do the same
with their friends. Like us, they need to enjoy the companionship…the
friendship…of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. I am blessed
to have friends like that. I hope you are, too. Walk with your friends and
family in a way that honors and pleases the Lord. Find your unique friendship
and companionship with the Lord and with those who also love Him.
Verse of Salvation ~ But giving thanks is a sacrifice
that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the
salvation of God. Psalm 50:23
HaPpY Birthday, Kim!
