Time is Running Out

Meditate.

This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don't participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don't let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. Romans 13:11-14

This must have seemed like an urgent message for Paul to write to the church at Rome—but we may apply this to our lives and realize how late it is. Time is running out. Did you read that correctly? Yes. Time is running out. The number of days we’ve lived is getting bigger…and the number of days we have left to live is getting smaller. Time is running out. We are closer every day to the day that Christ returns for His church…the Rapture…or closer to the day we die. To sleep until His return…or to rest in Paradise until He returns for His church. No matter what happens or how you imagine the end times to be, time is running out. Paul gives the Romans…and us…some good advice at that point. Don't participate in the darkness. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. We can do just that. Focus on the Lord…not on depressing dark things like COVID and movies that even Jesus Himself wouldn’t watch. I like Paul’s reminder…we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. We hardly ever see anyone, except via Zoom, but still our neighbors do see us working in our yard or walking when the weather is decent. We do belong to the day—to the one who is the light of the world—to Jesus. Hopefully anyone who sees us at the grocery store or neighborhood can see to whom we belong. How about you? Will others see Jesus in you?

Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. That is exciting.

Prayer ~ Lord God, Thank you for the wakeup call. I am so looking forward to salvation. My life isn’t bad…it isn’t too boring…or certainly not unbearable—but I just look forward to an eternity with You…and the glory of Heaven. You have blessed me. Let me be a blessing to others as we seek and serve You. Time is running out.

Verse of Salvation ~ This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:15-17

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table

As usual every Friday is Feast Day—Feasting at the King’s Table. We can’t live on just spiritual food …nor can we live on bread alone. We’ve got to have some meat, veggies and fruit. Considering that this is still the first week of Advent…what food gives you HOPE? Some good veggies? I’m really trying to lose a few pounds…an endless endeavor. Right now I’m limiting my carbs and considering a Keto way of eating. The vegetable that grow above the ground are known to have fewer carbohydrates than those that grow in the ground—root vegetables. So here is a list of the ten best above ground veggies:

1.  Cauliflower
2. Cabbage
3. Avocado
4. Broccoli
5. Zucchini
6. Spinach
7. Asparagus
8. Kale
9. Green beans
10. Brussels sprouts

Raw, roasted or stir-fried, these are all veggies that I certainly can and do enjoy. How about you? Add them to your next shopping list so you have them on hand to add to your supper soon! Bon Appetite.
