Comfort with Hope

Rejoice and Meditate with Hope.

"Comfort, comfort my people," says your God. "Speak tenderly to Jerusalem. Tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned. Yes, the LORD has punished her twice over for all her sins." Listen! It's the voice of someone shouting, "Clear the way through the wilderness for the LORD! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God! Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places. Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The LORD has spoken!" Isaiah 40:1-5

Giving comfort, gives hope. Hope for a brighter future…for the people of Jerusalem…and for us as believers to whom the Lord has been revealed. We have seen it in the birth of Jesus—that we celebrate now. Our celebration begins weeks before the actual day of Christmas. Some people even put up their tree and beginning listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving. I did this year! That’s comforting. Sad days aren’t only gone…they don’t happen when surrounded by reminders of how much God loves the world. He gave us His Son. Look around you. "Comfort, comfort my people," says your God. What can you do to create comfort and joy…and hope in the lives of those around you?

Listen! Don’t ignore that voice. Everyone wants to be listened to. God listens and you don’t even have to shout. He speaks in a still small voice, a gentle whisper…can you hear Him?

"Go out and stand before me on the mountain," the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 1 Kings 19:11-12

So, that is our goal today…listen to the Lord and comfort others. Can you do that?

Prayer ~ Dear Lord, You comfort us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort You have given us. From 2 Corinthians 1:4

Verse of Salvation ~ What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don't show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? James 2:14
