Seeking Love and Acceptance?

Sing a new song of praise to him; play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy. For the word of the LORD holds true, and we can trust everything he does. He loves whatever is just and good.... Psalm 33:3-5

God is love.... 1 John 4:8

Are you seeking--diligently looking--for love to fill an empty void in your heart...in your life? That emptiness is a basic desire that we all have from birth. We long to be loved and accepted. That reminds me of a study done with babies--those who were held, cuddled, caressed and talked to thrived. Those who merely were fed and changed died. There is more to love than just the basic needs.

Looking for love or acceptance in the wrong place or in the wrong people can get a person in trouble. Are you looking for God in a fancy church or cathedral? The best place to find God is in His Word, the Bible...and then in your heart.

A loving home life is a key--and then there are other relatives, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and associates in most people's lives who can provide guidance, acceptance and love. Who do you love...and who loves and accepts you?

During this holiday season how often do you say "Merry Christmas" to complete strangers you see in the stores? Whose life have you brightened today? Sometimes just a smile and acknowledgment is all a person needs to be encouraged. Do you know that God wants us to encourage and love each other? God's love flows through us to others...and He loves whatever is just and good. Are your actions just and good? Sing for joy. This is the day of the Lord--let us rejoice and be glad in it. God is love. Seek Him today and you will find Him. Then brighten someone else's day with a smile or holiday greeting, remembering who we rejoice in during this holiday...remembering who puts the "merry" in Christmas! Jesus.

Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, Thank you for loving us. Let your unfailing love surround us, LORDfor our hope is in you alone. Psalm 33:22. May your love flow through me to others around me--and even those around the world.
