Do You Need to be Rescued?

The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time. For the LORD protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken! Calamity will surely overtake the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished. But the LORD will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. Psalm 34:17-22 NLT

Jesus came to earth...close to the shepherds and wise men.
Are you letting Him be close to you?
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Crushed...disappointed? Christmas hasn't even happened yet...but there are likely people out there who are already feeling discouraged. Maybe they are overspending, can't find the gift they want to give, it won't be delivered in time...or they are sick, lost their job, or just have no one to spend the holidays with. Brokenhearted. Discouraged with life.

This Psalm was written long before Jesus was born...but He already existed. He was already listening for people's calls for help. Reach out. Call to Him...all of you who are burdened, discouraged, overwhelmed. Jesus has promised that He will rescue His people.

Are you "His people?" How do you become part of "His people" you might ask? Ask Him. Pray. Tell Him you are sorry for the mistakes...sin...in your life. Turn from your sinful ways...just admit it. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. There is nothing we can do that is "good" enough...only Jesus can rescue us from our sinful nature. Let that be your prayer today if you have never prayed that. He promises to rescue us from our troubles and to carry our burden. That would be the best Christmas present ever. Can you give that to someone else?

Prayer ~ I come to You, Lord Jesus, asking you to rescue me. Give me wisdom to deal with my troubles and help me to share You with others that they, too, could feel Your peace.
