Memory Verse of the Week ~
But
to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children
of God. John 1:12
To know that
God is my Father is a humbling, awesome and undeniably proud feeling. Dare I
say a righteous feeling? Overwhelming actually. Of all the people in the world…He
chose me to be one of His children. Me. I’m not worthy of His love and this
honor. No one is. I’m a stubborn sort of person—always wanting my way…and the
last word, but I give it all up for the Lord. I declare that Jesus is my
Messiah—He is the King of kings and Lord of Lords
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has
become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children,
too. ... For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this
victory through our faith. - 1 John 5:1, 4 NLT
Let the little children come to me. Don't stop them. For the Kingdom of God belongs to those.... |
Did you catch
that? Everyone who loves the Father,
loves His children. God expects us to love other Christians. My heart is
just warmed when I see people at my church hugging and greeting each other with
genuine love and sincerity. And the older folks are always adopting little ones
as their grandchildren. Such love. I imagine that’s the same kind of love that
God has for us…taking a little child or baby in one’s arms and hugging them…like
He is hugging us. It is noted that Jesus called the little children to Him.
One day some parents brought their little children
to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But when the disciples saw this,
they scolded the parents for bothering him. Then Jesus called for the children and
said to the disciples, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For
the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the
truth, anyone who doesn't receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never
enter it." Luke 18:15-17
Believe in
God. Believe in Jesus. God will consider you one of His children. Are you?
Prayer
~ Dear God, bless each of us today as we remember St. Patrick—a shepherd slave
who became a Christian believer in Ireland. Like St. Patrick may we continue to
seek You, Lord, and be devoted to You in all that we think, say and do.
