Let Your Light Shine - Man of Integrity

You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Matthew 5:14-16

A little more than a week ago a man of integrity—respected by hundreds—died in a senseless auto-farm vehicle accident.
There are good people, honest people, helpful people, righteous people and a few people who have true integrity. I think that a combination of all the goodness and honesty with God and men results in integrity. Did this gentleman have a moral integrity where he was truly right with God? I don’t know—it is not for me to judge. He certainly did let his light shine. He was a great example for others—always serving his community and country in one way or another—like serving in the army during the Vietnam era, being a school board member, port commissioner and farmers/irrigators association president. He was a hardworking, successful businessman with a lot of talents that it took be a profitable farmer. He was a loving and devoted husband, a good father, grandfather, and the type of friend who would challenge you to think, but who would also give you the shirt off his back. Those who knew him were blessed. He let his light shine for who he was—a man of integrity.
Do you let your light shine? Does Jesus shine through you?

Prayer ~ Jesus, my heart goes out to those who have lost a family member or dear friend unexpectantly. Comfort and strengthen them--giving them Your Peace. May they again find joy in their lives.
May any good deeds that I do allow others to see You—and to give praise to You and to our heavenly Father.
