Walk with the wise and become wise;
associate with fools and get in trouble. Proverbs 13:20
Walk through this Holy Week in humility,
love and gratitude.
So what Solomon…and God…are telling me here
is that I’ll become like the friends I choose. Wise friends help me be wise…and
with fools for friends, I’ll do dumb things that will cause me some grief. That
is just what I tried to instill in my children and now tell my grandkiddos—choose
your friends carefully. You can’t always tell a person’s character just by the
way they dress—but that might be a starting place. Their mouth—the way they
speak is probably the best sign of their values.
Choose your friends wisely. |
The tongue of the wise makes knowledge
appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness. Proverbs 15:2
It's not what goes into your mouth that
defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth." Matthew
15:11
Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut,
and you will stay out of trouble. Proverbs 21:23
Good advice. Guard your own words—and choose
them wisely. Use your words to encourage others and to bring others to the
saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about
Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes--the Jew
first and also the Gentile. Romans 1:16
Prayer
~ Lord…May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to
you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14.
