A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish
woman tears it down with her own hands. Proverbs 14:1
Wisdom is a valuable commodity—one that cannot be purchased with money. Building a house takes a lot of planning and calculations. Solomon wrote…Do your planning and prepare your fields before building your house. Proverbs 24:27. Jesus taught those wanting to follow Him that they needed to count the cost of their choice. He compared it to building a building. But don't begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. They would say, 'There's the person who started that building and couldn't afford to finish it!' Luke 14:28-30. Jesus also said…Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Matthew 7:24.
Building a new home takes planning and
consideration of so many details—from the foundation,
framing, windows, HVAC, electrical and plumbing to the color of the roofing material, the cabinets, flooring, and finally the paint. So many details. In life we must consider our “home” with God and the detail involved in building and maintaining that home—in our heart. Are you tearing your house down by ignoring God’s plan for your life…and abandoning or ignoring His will and His ways? Do you need to sweep out a few cobwebs? How about painting on a cheerful attitude? These last few days before Resurrection Sunday—Easter—give us an opportunity to put our life in order and reflect once again on what Christ has done for us.

Prayer
~ Lord Jesus, forgive my lazy attitude as I once again make improvements in my
home for You in my heart—a home build on a solid rock. You are the rock of my
salvation. I praise You and thank you for Your obedience to God the Father and
your sacrifice on the cross for my sin.
