Only a fool despises a parent's discipline;
whoever learns from correction is wise. Proverbs 15:5
This is very similar to… A wise child accepts a parent's discipline;
a mocker refuses to listen to correction.
Proverbs 13:1. Same choice…be wise. Be wise…accept correction and
discipline. That can be a humbling thing to do. Which is better…to be humbled
in submission to doing what is right for yourself and those you love, or to be
humiliated by doing something wrong against those you love and should respect?
I’m beginning to see that love and respect are involved in all relationships
and it is choices in those relationships that show the qualities of wisdom or
foolishness. You may think…what difference does it make? It made a difference with Adam and Eve. They didn't choose wisely and their decision still influences us today. For each person their choice ultimately may make
a difference between heaven and hell. We all have choices to make. Choose
wisely. Don't let that old snake fool you.
Prayer
~ Lord, whether we are old or young, we need Your wisdom to help us make good
decision…day by day, moment by moment. We are at Your mercy and plead for Your
grace—May it flow through us.
