Sin on the Cross

Good Friday
Wealth is a crown for the wise; the effort of fools yields only foolishness. Proverbs 14:24

A crown was placed on Christ’s head before He was crucified. A crown of thorns—shoved on His head—causing blood to trickle down His face. The wealth of spiritual knowledge—the source of all wisdom, crowned King of the Jews. Striped of His dignity—yet the most dignified, humble and loving man ever to live. Beaten and spat upon by fools…not realizing how foolish their actions were. Yet He had to go to the cross. He had to bear the sin of the world. His Father had a plan that saves even you and me. Jesus became the sacrificial lamb for your sin…for my sin. Without His sacrifice there would be no one in heaven one day. The purpose of mankind—fellowship with God—would never actually happen. As much as we wish that Jesus could have been spared—it was not to be. We can only believe, repent, and be grateful. Do you see your sin on that cross with Jesus?

Prayer ~ Heavenly Father—how it must have hurt You to allow Your Son to take our place on that cross. Thank You for Your plan of salvation—and Thank You Jesus for Your obedience. Forgive our sin. Guide us and bless us as we seek to please You.

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table
Good Friday is a day of fasting. How can anyone eat when our Savior and our Friend is hanging on a cross—dying for our sins. Remember Christ’s sacrifice as you take the bread and wine or juice in the Sacrament of Communion.

As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then He broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "Take this and eat it, for this is my body." And He took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, "Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many." Matthew 26:26-28
