Yoked Together

Read Proverbs 5

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry." Matthew 11:28-30 NET

Jesus calls us to come to Him--to be yoked to Him. In Biblical times this meant a lot to people. They saw oxen yoked together most every day. The two oxen worked together--doing more work than either of them combined if they were working separately. So Jesus is offering to be yoked to us so that He can help us bear our burden--our trials and tribulations in life. Likewise in marriage we should be equally yoked--with someone who believes as we do--in Christ.

Kendall and Lindsey--as you become husband and wife this week--yoked together--one in the Lord--may God bless your marriage with joy--giving you His wisdom, love, peace, strength and support for each other as long as you both remain living.

Training Tip - In the June 25th post here on the "Banquet With The King" blog we focused on the meekness (gentleness and humbleness)of Jesus and being yoked to Him. Today this same passage shows us the strength of Jesus as He offers us His own strength to pull a heavy load. Try again to demonstrate to your children the power in using a yoke.

Lord God--please give my children and grandchildren rest. May we all learn from You as we walk along side You-- together with You.
