Then he said to them, "Nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and famines and plagues in various places, and there will be terrifying sights and great signs from heaven. But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you, handing you over to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. This will be a time for you to serve as witnesses. Therefore be resolved not to rehearse ahead of time how to make your defense. For I will give you the words along with the wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. Luke 21:10-15
From where do you get your wisdom? Your father or grandfather, Wikipedia, your daily paper, your Bille or your best friend? Here Jesus is telling us that in the end times He will give us wisdom. The ultimate source of wisdom--Jesus. I look forward to those days--even with the promised tribulations. It will be exciting to know that we are in God's planned times--with His hand on us and His words in our mouths. Wise words--witnessing for Him. Let it be!
Training Tip - Chances are your children already have some ideas about wisdom and wise people. With your family, make a list of all the characteristics of a wise person. Here are a few to get you started: smart, good listener, honest, considerate, doesn't do foolish dumb stuff, makes good decisions, and follows God's word. Then discuss what they can do to be wiser.
Lord Jesus, we look forward to you giving us wisdom in the end-times, but we need your wisdom now--and understanding that we can share the Gospel with others today--not waiting for the end-times.
