Jesus is the
light of the world as He told us in John 8:12…then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the
world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light
of life." He was essentially “goodness” for us to follow after—we should
be producing the fruit of goodness…becoming good. Paul teaches that we are to
walk as children of the Light: for you
were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of
Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness
and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Do not participate in
the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is
disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. But
all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything
that becomes visible is light. Ephesians 5:8-13. Are you letting your
light, your goodness shine for others?
Training Tip – Children love to play with flashlights. Wait until
dark, talk about the goodness of Jesus and how He is the Light of the world. Give
each child a flashlight—but don’t put the batteries in them. Hear the moaning—they
don’t work! Put the batteries in the flashlights—like the power and goodness
from Jesus. Go on a walk shining your lights for Jesus. Praise Jesus for His
goodness.
Lord Jesus-fill my children and grandchildren with
Your Holy Spirit, that each of them might bear the Spirit’s fruit: love, joy
peace, patience kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control
(Galatians 5:22-23).
