Have you ever
had a dog or a small child follow you around all day, right at your heels?
That’s the way I see the goodness following me…day in and day out all the days
of my life. The 23rd Psalm is a favorite of many people and is used
so often at funerals…I will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever. That
goodness and kindness will follow us right up to Heaven…but we don’t have to
wait until then for that character trait of goodness to take its place in our
lives—that can start today. All we have to do is repent of our sins and accept
the Heavenly Father’s gift of salvation. That’s when we begin to dwell in the
house of the Lord—forever.
Training Tip – Save a piece of fruit until it is almost rotten. During
your sharing/devotion time with your family show the rotten fruit and a piece
of fresh fruit. Ask them which they would like to eat and if they were one of
those pieces of fruit, which they would want to be. Hopefully they’ll answer
the good fruit. Talk about the qualities of good fruit and how we want to have
goodness in our lives.
Lord God, You are goodness! Help us to be more like
Jesus by being kind to others and filled with goodness.
