One time Jesus entered a house, and the crowds began to gather again. Soon he and his disciples couldn’t even find time to eat. When his family heard what was happening, they tried to take him away. “He’s out of his mind,” they said. But the teachers of religious law who had arrived from Jerusalem said, “He’s possessed by Satan, the prince of demons. That’s where he gets the power to cast out demons.” Jesus called them over and responded with an illustration. “How can Satan cast out Satan?” he asked. “A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse. Similarly, a family splintered by feuding will fall apart. And if Satan is divided and fights against himself, how can he stand? He would never survive. Let me illustrate this further. Who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger—someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house. Mark 3:20- 27

Meditate. Read this scripture two more times and consider Jesus response to the accusations.
So many people were crowding around Him that He had no time or space for Himself, and now His own family and the religious leader from Jerusalem had come to Capernaum to confront Him. He’s out of his mind. He’s possessed by Satan…. How did Jesus respond? He often answered people with a question like “What do you want me to do for you?” But here you can almost hear Him laughing… . “How can Satan cast out Satan?” Good question. Are you wondering why they just couldn’t believe in Him for who He was?
The surprising thing was His family thought He was crazy. His Mother, too? Mom’s are suppose to believe in, encourage, and support their children. What was going on here? Was Satan stirring up some sibling rivalry? Lots of questions. We won’t necessarily know the answers until we get to Heaven. For now…just trust and obey. If you can believe in Jesus as your savior, then He will give you peace…and with renewed faith the doubts will go away. Think about these things—and pray. No fights or feuds or anxiety over this.
Believe, trust, obey. Any questions on that? Ask Jesus and He will give you the answers.
What do we learn about Jesus from this scripture passage?
Prayer ~ Jesus, I believe in You. You are the Son of God. You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one goes to the Father—and eternally to Heaven—without You. As recorded in Matthew 11:27, “My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Thank you for this revelation of Good News—and Your promise of eternal life.
Verse of Salvation ~ For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
