God created the Heavens and the earth.
How do you honor Him?
When
I went to Jerusalem with my family for Passover, I was amazed at the lights of
the city from the homes and the Temple. Here in Nazareth, in the evenings, it is
dark, but the sky is filled with the stars that God created and are used to
tell stories of ancient times and the future. God made the heavens and the
earth, and He is seated up there in Heaven now on a magnificent throne as He
rules the universe.
That
was a topic that the Rabbis at the Temple loved to discuss. God created the
heavens and the earth and everything in it—including all the animals and people
themselves. People. God created people in a special way—not like the other
living creatures.
Then God said, "Let us make
human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the
sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth,
and the small animals that scurry along the ground." So God created human
beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female
he created them. Genesis
1:26-27
God is
sovereign—ruling over everything He created—which is…everything! Many
people, like David, in earlier times addressed the Almighty God as Sovereign, as
Lord.
How great you are, O Sovereign
LORD! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like
you! 2 Samuel 7:22
It is
with greatest respect and honor that I address my God as Sovereign, as Lord. No
idols—only worship, honor, and glory for the true God, creator and ruler of the
Universe. He created me…what is His plan for my future? For now, I’ll grow in
wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.
Prayer
– Lord God, You are Sovereign. The Lord and ruler of everything. You rule in my
heart and life. I am humbled knowing that I know You—the great Lord and Savior—created
me. You are worthy of praise and honor. Thank you for creating and caring for
the people of this earth. We have some awesome days ahead with you as our
Sovereign ruler.

of Salvation ~ Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your
name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name. Psalm 79:9
