Do You Have Regrets?

Prayer – Lord Jesus, I hope that I’m doing everything right. Sometime I sin—goof up without thinking. That’s the key—thoughtless actions from subconscious selfishness. The human nature…gotta ya! That’s what sometimes happens before I get my thoughts and actions in control. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I know You’ve got my back. You told everyone You healed or came in contact with to “Repent." I’m listening…and obeying.

Stop. Turn from Sin.
Repent.

For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such a readiness to punish wrong. You showed that you have done everything necessary to make things right. 2 Corinthians 7:10-11

Meditate. Consider God’s provision for salvation.

Sin is willful transgression of the known laws of God, but Susanna Wesley stated it beautifully. She was the mother of John Wesley, who asked her one day, “What is Sin?” She answered, “Whatever weakens your reasoning, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes away your relish for spiritual things, in short, if anything increases the authority of the flesh over the spirit, that to you becomes sin, however good it is in itself.”

Repentance—that turning away from sin—leads to salvation. Paul gave good advice to the people of the Corinth church and they were doing everything necessary to make things right. Good for them. Helpful advice to everyone listening today. Just as Jesus taught…repent. That is still the key to eternal spiritual life. No cause for Godly sorrow or indignation necessary. That eternal salvation is going to be worth the wait…and worth the trials and tribulation that we may still have to go through before Christ calls us home to Heaven with Him. But choose to seek that repentance day by day before it is too late. We don’t know how much time we have left. Will you be left with regrets?

Verse of Salvation ~ God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:8-10
