LISTEN

Prayer – Lord, I am listening to Your word…reading it often, if not daily, and I’m obsessed with getting to know You better day by day. To love someone—you have to know them! Please reveal more of Yourself to me every day!

Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him. Deuteronomy 13:4

Meditate. To what or whom are you listening?

From the Ten Commandments we learn that we are to love God and to love others. Love …show respect. One way to show respect is to LISTEN. To listen intentionally with one’s whole heart, soul and mind. A couple of speakers in RightNow media presentations have encouraged their audience to take time to “get alone with God” and that is just what I did the last couple of days. God had to take me away from others…to give me a time of “retreat” in order to show this lesson. I went to a friend’s cabin for a STORYWRITERS planning session—and God had other plans for me. A little time of insomnia, as well as a few hours of driving alone, allowed me to focus on Him and listen.

I love the mountains—I love the ocean beaches—I love being out on rivers or lakes in a kayak or canoe—I just enjoy the outdoors—and listening to the sounds of nature…birds, squirrels, the wind in the trees. The Lord has really impressed on me that I need to listen…not just to the sounds I hear or don’t want to hear like the neighborhood big barking dog (ugh)—but to listen to His words and how I can apply them to my life. I have that choice. Listen and obey…or do “life” my way. I choose to Listen to God and to listen to others. Love God…love others.

Verse of Salvation ~ So I want you to know that this salvation from God has also been offered to the Gentiles, and they will accept it. Acts 28:28
