Prayer – Lord, sleep is so restful. May healing take place as we sleep and rest.
"My Father has entrusted everything to me. No
one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father
except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." Then
Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am
humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke
is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." Matthew
11:27-30
Sit and rest--give Jesus your burden.
Meditate. Consider the importance of rest.
Jesus is saying that the burden He gives is light. He takes
our burden upon Himself…and share it so ours is light. Interesting concept. Peter
mentions this also in his first letter.
So humble yourselves
under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in
honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1
Peter 5:6-7
God—the
great Sovereign Deity—from the Greek word theos. This mighty
God—all powerful—cares about us and wants to honor us. That is awesome, but
humbly, it is we should be honoring Him. Peter wrote…Give all your worries
and cares to God, for he cares about you. That is just what Jesus told
the multitudes as recorded in the book of Matthew when He said… “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy
burdens, and I will give you rest.”
What
a wonderful promise. If we give Jesus our cares and worries—even if it is
related to some health procedure, He will carry our troubles with us. As we
rest, He will give us strength. Listen to what the Lord has for you today. Let
Him teach you something new that you can apply to your life and your
relationship with Him. And rest--yes, rest in His love. During this week of JOY
for Advent—find joy in your life…and your relationship with the Lord.
Seek the Kingdom of God above
all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33
Praise the LORD! For he has
heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with
all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in
songs of thanksgiving. Psalm
28:6-7
Rest
in the Lord. Give Him your burdens—so you sleep well and have sweet rest in
Him.
Verse of Salvation ~ But may all who search for you be filled with
joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout,
"God is great!" Psalm 70:4
