How Much Do You Make in a Day? How Much is a Loaf of Bread?

Prayer – Lord God, once again I’m pleading with You—give me wisdom and understanding to understand Your word and Your very plan. Life is tough for so many people—and it takes a lot of trust for them to really trust You to provide for their next meal, pay the rent, and clothe the kids as they get ready for school to start. Fill us Lord—with Your love…and our daily bread.

When the Lamb broke the third seal, I heard the third living being say, "Come!" I looked up and saw a black horse, and its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice from among the four living beings say, "A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley will cost a day's pay. And don't waste the olive oil and wine." Revelation 6:5-6

Meditate. Read God’s word and listen to what He is saying.

How often do you use scales…other than to occasionally weigh yourself? Scales were used to determine the cost of something by using calibrated weights to figure the weight and value of not only produce but also of material goods. God expressed the value of true weights and honesty.

Your scales and weights must be accurate. Your containers for measuring dry materials or liquids must be accurate. I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt. Leviticus 19:36

You must use accurate scales when you weigh out merchandise…. Deuteronomy 25:13

The LORD detests the use of dishonest scales, but he delights in accurate weights. Proverbs 11:1

The LORD demands accurate scales and balances; he sets the standards for fairness. Proverbs 16:11

What is the cost of a loaf of bread...or some rolls?

Inflation. The cost of a loaf of bread—for those who eat bread—has increased dramatically. For those of us who rarely eat high carb foods like bread, our focus on inflation is the overall impact on food, clothes, homes, and autos. Everything has dramatically increased including our nation’s trillions of dollars in debt. Are the scales honest—are people so looking for a bargain just to make ends meet for their budget that they forget who provides everything? God.

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? So don't worry about these things, saying, 'What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:25-34

Trust God to provide—even when a loaf of bread costs a day’s wages.

Verse of Salvation ~ This man (the man of lawlessness) will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
