Keep Away From Anything That Takes God’s Place in Your Heart

Meditate. Where is God in your life?

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. Titus 2:11-14

Flowers with a Heart

Does God have a place in your heart...with tulips?

Does God have a place in your heart? If you are a Christian…a believer and follower of Jesus Christ…they there should be a place already where the Holy Spirit lives in your heart. That is a promise from God. We are also given instruction from John about letting other things take presentence in our hearts and lives.

Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God's place in your hearts. 1 John 5:21

If we are trying to improve or deepen our relationship with God, we don’t want to put anything above Him.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33

That pretty much sums it up. Seek God first in your life. Don’t let anything—TV, sports, video games, music, clothes, cars, even food—be more important to you than God and your relationship with Him.

Prayer ~ Lord God, You are more important to me than virtually anything else but sometimes I get swept away with everyday things and entertainment. Help me to keep focused on You…and Thank You again for providing everything I need, especially salvation, wisdom, righteousness, and opportunities to serve You.

Verses of Salvation ~ Don't you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can't you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. He will judge everyone according to what they have done. He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness. Romans 2:4-8
