Meditate. Who is God to you?
"My Lord and my
God!" Thomas exclaimed. John 20:28
So you are saved, but consider who is God to you? He was the Lord to Thomas. Who is really Lord of your life? Do you spend more time on YouTube or reading and studying your Bible and meditating on God’s Word? Do you consider yourself a “mature” Christian? How do you become a “mature” Christian? Spiritual growth is important. Consider what the writer of Hebrews said.
There is much more we would like to say about this, but it
is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don't
seem to listen. You have been believers so long now that you ought to be
teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things
about God's word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food.
For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn't know how to do
what is right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training
have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong. Hebrews
5:11-14
So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ
again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding.
Surely we don't need to start again with the fundamental importance of
repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don't need further
instruction about baptisms, the laying on --of hands, the resurrection of the
dead, and eternal judgment. And so, God willing, we will move forward to
further understanding. Hebrews 6:1-3
Move forward. You’ve got the basic
fundamentals of knowledge about Christianity—about God the Father, His Son
Jesus Christ who gave His life for us and then was resurrected, and the
precious Holy Spirit who guides us daily as we strive to grow in Christ.
Become mature. We are continually going through the process of sanctification as we live to follow Christ’s teachings and become holy—but not on our own—only through the power of the Holy Spirit. Then what is left of our lives? We can serve Him…just as He served others. Jesus left us with the Great Commission. The book of Matthew was originally written to Jews, but Jesus did not mean for only the Jews to spread the Gospel.
Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given
all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all
the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy
Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.
And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew
28:18-20 Baptism in the Jordan River
Israel
As you build your relationship with the Lord today consider who can you reach for Him?
Prayer ~ Lord God, open my eyes to see who You want me to reach for You…and how I can make them to know You as their Savior. Thank You that You have promised to be with us always. Your presence in our lives is precious.
Verse of Salvation ~ My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins. James 5:19-20
