LOVE – A Command

I am writing to remind you, dear friends, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning. Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning. I say this because many deceivers have gone out into the world. They deny that Jesus Christ came in a real body. Such a person is a deceiver and an antichrist. Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.  2 John 1:5-8

Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. What has been your spiritual goal during 2018? Have you achieved that goal? Is love at the heart of your goals? John reminds us in this passage that Jesus taught that we are to love one another.

You can almost smell the fragrance of Love.

Love. That is the theme throughout the Bible.
     - For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God's love for the world is unfathomable. Would you give up your first born child as an act of love to provide salvation for mankind...or for anyone--your favorite friend or even for your worst enemy. Giving up what you love most shows love--deep, abiding, unfathomable love. We should love each other...just like God said.
   - Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love--not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 1 John 4:7-11

What is love? When I asked my sister, "How do you know if you love someone?' She told me, "You care more about them than about yourself." Good answer. Love others--care more about them than about yourself. Put others first. That is another teaching from Jesus. Do you love your neighbor as yourself?

Prayer ~ Lord. I love You with all my heart, mind, soul and strength. You are awesome. Help me to love others for You...to love those around me...my neighbors as You would love them. Love is the key to life.
