Where?

On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed, Jesus' disciples asked him, "Where do you want us to go to prepare the Passover meal for you?" Mark 14:12

Jesus kept the traditional Jewish holidays…and like all good Jews He went on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem on as required for the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Booths. See Deuteronomy 16:16. The Festival or Feast of Unleavened Bread was a week of eating unleavened bread as instituted when God was preparing the Hebrew people for the final plague and their exodus from Egypt. See Exodus 12. It was the beginning of the Passover. That was the time when the angel of death passed over the homes that were marked with the blood of the spotless Passover Lamb that was sacrificed to save them. Of whom does that remind you? For seven days the Hebrew people were to eat unleavened bread—representing purity since leaven was a symbol of sin, corruption and evil. The bread was to be prepared quickly and eaten with the roasted lamb as God had instructed. That meal marked the beginning of Passover—and it was that beginning feast that the disciples wanted to prepare for Jesus. But where?

Jesus was on His way to the cross. This Passover Meal was to be His last meal. The place where the meal was provided, prepared and participated in may have been a significant place for the disciples. It created precious last memories of their teacher and friend, Jesus. Where would that be?

Have you ever prepared to have a feast with Jesus? Perhaps a spiritual feast—sifting through your favorite scripture passages. Where would you go to have a special quiet time with your Lord—just to feast on His words? Where?

Prayer ~ Lord God, You provide so much for us…our family, friends, homes, food, and clothing,—as well as Your words. May the Holy Spirit guide our lives…our very thoughts, words and actions that we would live lives pleasing and honoring You. Give us this day our daily bread—spiritual as well as physical nourishment.
