Prudent people are wise about their own actions—and don’t bring shame or
dishonor upon themselves. Jesus was a good example of honoring Himself—and His
father with His actions. In 1 Peter
2:21-23 it tells us…For you have been
called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an
example for you to follow in His steps, WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY
DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; and while being reviled, He did not revile in
return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to
Him who judges righteously…. Jesus was without sin and was honest (without
a deceitful tongue or mouth)—so that is how we should be. Honest and righteous.
Training Tip – Read the story of Saul and Samuel from 1 Samuel 15.
Saul told Samuel that he did as God commanded to destroy everything of the
Amalekites. Did he? Read it and see. Then discuss it with your family. Was King
Saul wise or foolish? How are we in our relationships with each other and with
our relationship to God?
Lord God, may we be found to be honest and
trustworthy in Your sight. Help us to be like the wise man and hold wisdom and
honor within our hearts and lives.
