He resolutely
set His face to go to Jerusalem—He was radically obedient. Knowing that He was
facing the cross—He still went to Jerusalem—He willing responded to His Father’s
will, in obedience, determined not to let Satan get the last laugh, not to let
down the human race. Can we say that we are radically obedient to the Father?
Are we determined in any spiritual matter? What does it mean to be spiritually
determined?
Training Tip – The spiritual realm is so beyond most of us since we
live busy lives focused on our families and material possessions. Children may
actually be more in touch spiritually—very young children may even see angels. The
word “angel” is mentioned 188 times and “angels” are mentioned 89 times in the
Bible (NASB translation). Read the following verse to your children and then
have them draw a picture of what it might look like…nothing being able to
separate us from the love of God. For
I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,
nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor
any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39. You might even like to try to illustrate this scripture
yourself. Can obedience be put into a drawing or picture? See if your children
can illustrate that.
Lord Jesus, help us to be obedient to You and to
Your Father, our Heavenly Father. Show us ways that we can encourage others,
including our families, to be decisive, to make good decision as we follow in
Your path and as we await Your return.
