In the Sound
of Music, Maria sings a song with the lyrics…
I have confidence
in sunshine
I have confidence
in rain
I have confidence
that spring will come again
Besides which you
see I have confidence in me
Even though she
is apprehensive about taking care of seven children, she exudes confidence—and that
gives her confidence. That is the same confidence about which Paul writes to
the church in Corinth. He has confidence in them which is spoken of with
rejoicing.
Confidence
begins with…a positive commitment to a situation. An enthusiastic encouragement,
like that given by Paul, is uplifting to a person or group receiving the
encouragement—and gives joy to the one giving the support.
Training Tip – Again, encourage your children, even in some small
way, to be confident in something they are doing. Since it is summertime and
there are fewer activities happening in their lives right now—create an
opportunity for them to challenge them to have confidence.
Lord – Therefore let us draw near with confidence to
the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in
time of need. Hebrews 4:16
