Then,
turning to his disciples, Jesus said, "That is why I tell you not to worry
about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to
wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the
ravens. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them.
And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! Can all your worries add a
single moment to your life? And if worry can't accomplish a little thing like
that, what's the use of worrying over bigger things? Luke 12:22-26You are more valuable to God than any birds...
even the great Sandhill Cranes.
They migrate over eastern Washington.

…
if worry can't accomplish a little thing like that, what's the use of worrying
over bigger things? Good question! Jesus had just asked… Can
all your worries add a single moment to your life? What is of value in your
life? Food, clothes, nice car, beautiful home in a safe neighborhood, vacations
to exotic places, an RV or boat, first edition books, large screen TVs—in more
than one room in your home, money in the bank, and a large IRA for the future.
Are you concerned about any of these things? Jesus tells us not to worry
about everyday life. We are to store up our treasures in Heaven.
Don't store up treasures here on
earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in
and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy,
and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the
desires of your heart will also be. Matthew
6:19-21
Are you
worried about the future? Who will take care of you when you get old and feeble?
Where will you live? Where and when will you die? Where will you go after you
die—is there life after death? Jesus says not to worry, just as He did a little
earlier in His ministry. He encouraged those following Him—especially the
seventy who had been out to nearby cities for ministry. The same is good for
us, too.
Then Jesus said, "Come to me,
all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at
heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and
the burden I give you is light." Matthew
11:28-30
The great
Teacher said He’ll take everyone’s burdens. He took it all to the cross. Are
you burdened by cares, unmet expectations, disappointments, questions about the
future, or your relationship with the Lord? Best thing to do is pray…and seek
some counsel with another Christian. Leave me a message below and we can
dialog. Discussion is usually a good thing.
What do you learn about Jesus in the
scripture today that helps you deepen your relationship with Him?
Prayer
– Lord Jesus, I lay all of my burden down at Your feet. Thank You for the
assurance that we don’t have to worry—that You will be yoked with us and take
our burdens. I am grateful to remember every day that You will never leave us or
forsake us. My favorite promise.

Feast at the King’s Table
What
to eat? We do need food daily, although I know some who fast regularly…and
fasting is definitely beneficial for one’s body and spirit. So, what to eat…or
NOT eat!?
NOT
Eat – nothing from sunrise to sunset. It’s OK to drink water.
With
an 18-hour fast, a person can eat NO food for 18 hours, then eat normally for 6
hours. I’ve found it very beneficial for lowering and then maintaining weight,
but I actually do more like a 16-hour fast, with still only two meals a day. As
we get older, we don’t really need three meals a day! I sometimes have breakfast
or brunch foods for a noontime lunch and then a light meal at suppertime. The
hard thing is to stop eating in the evening! Don’t let carbs attack your appetite
and drag you into the non-stop craving for chips, cookies, cake. It helps me to
keep visualizing myself thinner and trying to convince myself that those carbs
are NOT good-tasting. Good luck with that!

foods? What do you think Jesus would eat if He had our food choices today? Share
