Jesus said to the people who believed in him, "You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." "But we are descendants of Abraham," they said. "We have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean, 'You will be set free'?" Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. Yes, I realize that you are descendants of Abraham. And yet some of you are trying to kill me because there's no room in your hearts for my message. I am telling you what I saw when I was with my Father. But you are following the advice of your father." John 8:31-38
Meditate.
Consider God’s truth in Scripture.
Jesus
said that those who sinned were slaves—slaves to sin. Read the passage again. If
you remain faithful to my teaching…you will know the truth. The truth
will set you free. Free. Not only free
from sin, but a permanent member of the family. God’s family! What an
honor! God is showing His ultimate love in giving His only Son for our sins…and
then welcoming us into His family. Personally, I feel very blessed—extremely
highly blessed because I believe in Jesus—there is room for Him in my heart. I
am chosen. Not forsaken.

do you learn about Jesus from this Scripture passage today?
Prayer
– Thank You, Lord Jesus, for choosing me out of hundreds of millions of people
over the ages…You choose to reveal Yourself to me. I am grateful. I look to the
day when I will see You face to face in our Father’s house. For now I praise
You. I glorify You. I honor You…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Verses
of Salvation ~ O LORD, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God! Do not
let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. No one who trusts
in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive
others. Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.
Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day
long I put my hope in you. Psalm
25:1-5
