Death – Ceasing to Exist

The Cemetary--a Holding place
for those waiting for Christ's Return.
Death is ceasing to exist—but we know that our spirits will live on. Yesterday I heard a clip of a country western song that said something like “I’m not afraid to die… but I just don’t want to die right now.” Isn’t that probably true for most people—Christians anyway. I am not afraid to die and know that I’m going to a better place when my life in this mortal body ends. It’s going to be wonderful, but am I ready to go today… or even tomorrow?

I have seen everything in this meaningless life, including the death of good young people and the long life of wicked people. So don't be too good or too wise! Why destroy yourself? On the other hand, don't be too wicked either. Don't be a fool! Why die before your time? Pay attention to these instructions, for anyone who fears God will avoid both extremes. Ecclesiastes 7:15-18

Get ready today… since we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. We do know that believing in Jesus will result in eternal spiritual life. Are you following Jesus? How do you feel about dying and death?

Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. 1 Corinthians 15:22

Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?" John 11:25-26

Prayer – Lord Jesus, guard my heart and mind, giving me wisdom to live in a way that is pleasing to You—because life in You is really what matters.

Meditate. Consider life and death.

Verse of Salvation ~ O LORD, I give my life to you. ... Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:1, 4-5
