Eagle Scout Award - Congratulations Zander Shultz

Prayer – Lord, thank you for Your encouragement and direction in our lives—for those You put in our family and as our friends and neighbors—that we may see them grow and learn to love You and others.

Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:28-31

Meditate. Consider God’s guidance in scripture.

Once upon a time—not so very long ago—a little seven-year old boy wanted to go camping, fishing, boating, hiking, and just playing with other guys outside. His wise parents signed him up for Cub Scouts and saw to it that he got to his weekly meetings. Sure enough, he made lots of new friends and they went camping together. They even went as far as the Florida Keys fishing, sailing, and snorkling. They hiked and even snow skied in the mountains nearby. They all learned useful skills that will help them be prepared all through their lives in areas like first aid, citizenship, communications, cooking, fitness, personal management, plumbing, carpentry, and emergency preparedness. Not all his friends stuck with the program—and he made new friends along the way. He became a leader within his group and took on a project to build a firepit and gravel path from his church into the woods nearby. Can you imagine the stories that will be told and the number of s’mores roasted over fires at that site? It won’t be just scouts, but lots of church teens and family groups will find companionship in a circle of friends there.

Ten years later, this little guy isn’t so little anymore, but Monday, June 26th he achieved the honor of EAGLE SCOUT! Since only about three percent of all boys in the scouting program ever achieve this level it is quite an accomplishment—and we are very proud of Zander—and his Dad, Kim, and Mom, Lisa. Even his sisters, Amelia and Liberty, offered encouragement over the years and were blessed to take part in some of his activities. Way to go, Zander!

What is next? It is important to have always have a goal…a plan for the next thing in your life. Finish High School, graduate from college…and continue to encourage others along your pathway.

Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings to take them up and carried them safely on his pinions. Deuteronomy 32:11

Blessing on you, Zander, in whatever you do! We love you much!l

Verse of Salvation ~ Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. … Listen to the words of the wise; apply your heart to my instruction. For it is good to keep these sayings in your heart and always ready on your lips. I am teaching you today—yes, you—so you will trust in the LORD. I have written thirty sayings for you, filled with advice and knowledge. In this way, you may know the truth and take an accurate report to those who sent you. Proverbs 22:6. 17-21
