Prayer – Lord Jesus, I still trust You as the great physician—and I can see that You have worked in so many people’s lives—even my own—in years past. But what about today…and the debilitating illnesses with which some of our beloved family and friends are plague? Can’t You have mercy on them and miraculously heal them? I am particularly lifting up my precious granddaughters, Amelia, Liberty, and Lydia—as well as others. Have mercy, Lord. Show them Your love and grace. Thank you.
Is God's Love gone forever? Scootney Reservoir, Washington |
Meditate. Consider God’s promises in scripture. Read God’s
word and listen to what He is saying.
Have you ever felt forgotten…like God just doesn’t hear
your prayers? Have you wondered why He doesn’t answer them, especially if you
are following His will and doing everything you can to please Him? There is no
easy answer, especially when those hurting are children or teens.
The LORD is far from
the wicked, but he hears the prayers of the righteous. Proverbs 15:29
Are any of you
suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing
praises. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to
come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a
prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well.
And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. - James 5:13-15
Prayer is certainly the key…as is trusting the Lord with
the outcome. Sometimes that all we can do…endure the situation…persevere…and
press on to the goal. Still, it is hard to just sit back and trust that God will
intervene like He has so powerfully throughout the Bible. We might just feel
that His “No” or “Wait” is like He has just forgotten about us and our prayers.
Do you feel Forgotten?
Verses of Salvation ~ Praise the LORD! Give thanks to
the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Who can list the
glorious miracles of the LORD? Who can ever praise him enough? There is joy for
those who deal justly with others and always do what is right. Remember me,
LORD, when you show favor to your people; come near and rescue me. Let me share
in the prosperity of your chosen ones. Let me rejoice in the joy of your
people; let me praise you with those who are your heritage. Like our ancestors,
we have sinned. We have done wrong! We have acted wickedly! Our ancestors in
Egypt were not impressed by the LORD's miraculous deeds. They soon forgot his
many acts of kindness to them. Instead, they rebelled against him at the Red
Sea. Even so, he saved them—to defend the honor of his name and to demonstrate
his mighty power. Psalm 106:1-8
Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table
Sometimes it is not about what you are eating but about “what
is eating you.” Your food is not going to digest well if you have some issues
that are “eating at you” or that you just haven’t resolved whether it is with other
people or with yourself. Put the food aside—fast if necessary—and come to terms
with anything that may interfere with your digestion. Could it be a food
intolerance, sensitivity, or allergy? Is it an issue with a family or friend
that has you in a tither? Let go and let God handle it. Sometimes that is
easier said than done—but if you claim you are a Christian, then that
relationship between you and God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—is essential to
spiritual and physical health. Throughout history people have claimed that sin
causes disease, but it could also be that disease causes sin. If a person isn’t
thinking clearly, they are more likely to get trapped into corruptible behavior.
Be careful.
I pray that God, the
source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust
in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the
Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Let joy and peace be your foods of choice today.
