Back to Revelation

Prayer – Lord, please give me wisdom and understanding as I delve into Your word and look at end times Bible prophesy.

I, John, am your brother and your partner in suffering and in God's Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us. I was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the word of God and for my testimony about Jesus. It was the Lord's Day, and I was worshiping in the Spirit. Suddenly, I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet blast. It said, "Write in a book everything you see, and send it to the seven churches in the cities of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea." Revelation 1:9-11

Meditate. Consider God’s guidance in scripture. Read God’s word and listen to what He is saying.

Do you ever have a deja vu moment? John told us that there were seven churches. Now he is listing those churches for us. Three of the churches are specifically listed as cities where Paul established churches during his missionary journeys. Ephesus. Thyatira. Laodicea. The other cities were close to those mentioned since they were all in a circle within Asia—now in Turkey, so it is likely that Paul visited those cities, although they were not specifically listed in Acts or other Pauline epistles.

Wake up and smell the coffee.
It's time to worship the Lord.
In Spirit and in Truth.

It was the Lord’s Day, and I was worshiping in the Spirit.
Presumably John was in a state of mind that he was filled with the Holy Spirit. Worshipful. Focusing on God—not on himself. That is a wonderful thing—and it can happen any day, not just on the Lord’s Day. Personally, I find that worship happens intentionally just as with John…in a state of mind…when focusing on God and God alone. I’ve not ever heard a loud voice like a trumpet blast—like John heard. That voice told him to write. I hear a voice often, too, that tells me, “Time to write your blog today” or “Did you write your blog today?” Oh, that second one may just be my husband reminding me…not God, prodding me to get my work done! This blog is my work, my service for the Lord. A service of joy. Definitely a learning experience as I dig into God’s word. I hope you’ll continue to come along with me in the coming weeks as I explore the prophesy provided for us in the book of Revelation. Write me a comment or two and give me your insights into God’s word—either from Revelation or some other scripture passage that you are reading. Blessings on your day.

Happy Birthday, Mary Lee.

God’s blessings on you and your family today.
