Trusting God to Fulfill His Promises

Prayer – Lord, like Joshua, I trust You to provide, guide, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I want to be ready and trust You for all the promises You have for Your followers for the coming days.

Then Moses said to the LORD, "O LORD, you are the God who gives breath to all creatures. Please appoint a new man as leader for the community. Give them someone who will guide them wherever they go and will lead them into battle, so the community of the LORD will not be like sheep without a shepherd." The LORD replied, "Take Joshua son of Nun, who has the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him." Numbers 27:15-18

Meditate. Consider Joshua, who had the Spirit in him.

Trust God to Fulfill His Promises

Joshua had the Holy Spirit in him. God had chosen him even before Moses asked for a new leader for the Israelites. Chosen by God. Joshua had already proven himself loyal, honest, trustworthy. He and Caleb were the only ones confident in the Israelites ability to conquer the inhabitants of the Palestine land that was the Promised Land. Joshua and Caleb were eager to enter the Land of milk and honey…and large grapes…that the Lord was giving them. Only those two young men trusted Lord, as Moses described in his speech to the Israelites as recorded in Deuteronomy 1. The other Israelites who had gone into the Promised Land to check out the situation were scared and didn’t trust that the Lord would help them. But look at what He had done bringing them safety from Egypt to the Promised Land. He would take care of them anywhere, anytime. But they rebelled. Forty years later, Joshua became that leader that Moses was looking for and led the Israelites into God’s Promised Land. We can look at our own lives. Are we like the rebellious Israelites who were afraid to enter the Promised Land? Are we trusting the Lord for what He has promised—or are we running scared in the opposite direction?

Verse of Salvation ~ Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind. Isaiah 58:8
