How Strong is Your Foundation?

Prayer – Lord, just like the early believers, I want to be devoted to Your teachings, to fellowship, sharing meals—even just out to lunch—and of course, to prayer—the main way to communicate with You.

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer. Acts 2:42

Meditate. Pray.

This is the day that the Lord has made—let us rejoice in it! Celebrate every day! Express your joy over just being part of God’s family…and as Luke wrote in Acts…be devoted…to the Lord’s teaching, fellowship, sharing meals, and to prayer. Fellowship—with God and with others is one of the cornerstones of Christian living. Another one is prayer. Without those we have no relationship, or just weak relationships with God and others. What kind of life is that? Lonely and pathetic. That’s not for me. I will admit that with the cold weather…and a bit of a cold…I have isolated myself from others—but not from God. I guess I could do even better in that respect, too. How much time have I spent in His word? Just minutes each day which is not nearly enough. How about you? Five minutes or an hour? How much is enough?

Those cornerstones of Christian living are spiritual cornerstones to the foundation of our spiritual bridge to God…and to others. Love God. Love others. Life always comes back to those two commandments that Jesus reminded us of when He responded to the question of what commandments were most important. Those two summarized all the Ten Commandments. That brings us to the question…How strong is your foundation?

Verse of Salvation ~ Though the LORD is very great and lives in heaven, he will make Jerusalem his home of justice and righteousness. In that day he will be your sure foundation, providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the LORD will be your treasure. Isaiah 33:5-6
