A Warning

Prayer – Lord, I am grateful that the Holy Spirit is my teacher here and now. I can trust Him that what He teaches is true…just as I read in Philippians 4:8… And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (Philippians 4:8) Help me to fix my mind on Your truth and renew my mind.

I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. 1 John 2:26-27

Meditate. Consider God’s guidance in scripture.

John is giving us a warning. Watch out. Don’t be deceived. The first deception in the world occurred with Adam and Eve eating that forbidden fruit. Eve blamed it on Satan and told God…

Then the LORD God asked the woman, "What have you done?" "The serpent deceived me," she replied. "That's why I ate it." Genesis 3:13

Paul points out to Timothy that it was not Adam who was deceived…but Eve.

And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result. 1 Timothy 2:14

Let Paul’s words be a warning to us all. These words also encourage us not to be misled.

Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You must warn each other every day, while it is still "today," so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. Hebrews 3:12-14

Even Jesus warned about deception.

Then if anyone tells you, 'Look, here is the Messiah,' or 'There he is,' don't believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones. See, I have warned you about this ahead of time. Matthew 24:23-25

Can you trust it? It looks like a strong bridge.
Be cautious who and what you trust.
Be careful who you trust. Dig into God’s word for yourself—know it and know God. Then you will not be lead astray or have a weak bridge or relationship with Him. That is not advice from me…but it is God’s word alerting you to be cautious. It is His warning.

Verses of Salvation ~ (Letter from Paul and Timothy to the church at Philippi.) Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. Don't be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself. Philippians 1:27-28
