Meditate. How do you see God working in your life today?
So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
God’s grace is
amazing—we don’t deserve it…or His love, but He still showers it on us. Even if
we try to be really, really good—it is useless. We can’t be good enough, pure
enough to be deserving of God’s love, attention—His unmerited favor that is
grace. One group of the verses that points us to salvation says…
When we were utterly helpless, Christ
came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not
be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be
willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great
love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And
since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will
certainly save us from God's condemnation. For since our friendship with God
was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will
certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our
wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us
friends of God. Romans 5:6-11
The light of Jesus shines into our lives. Rejoice! |
While we
were still sinners…. Christ died for us. That is salvation. We couldn’t
escape sin…but Christ gave His own life so that we could be in a relationship
with God the Father…and with Him. At the end of that passage it reminds us to
be joyful…to rejoice in our new relationship with God. That is what love
is all about here. God’s love for us and our love for Him. Rejoicing seems more
associated with Christmas than with Thanksgiving…but rejoice and be glad that
God had a plan to save you…to save mankind. Be thankful…very thankful for that!
Prayer ~ Dear God, I am thankful that from the beginning You had a plan…and it included us lowly Gentiles becoming part of Your family. I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God. I am rejoicing in Your grace and love.
Verse of Salvation and Thanksgiving ~ As for us, we can't help but thank God for you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation--a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth. He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14
