Don’t Get Tired of Doing Good

Meditate. Consider others.

So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone--especially to those in the family of faith. Galatians 6:9-10

Don’t give up. When you have an opportunity—be good to others. Don’t help them out just at Thanksgiving or Christmas time—be willing to generously provide for others needs. I’m preaching to myself here. I know I can do more to help those in need in my community…even in my own church and neighborhood. God has given me resources…how about you? God will surely bless us…if we are a blessing to others.

Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God's people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Romans 12:9-15

Keep on praying. Such good advice. Don’t give up. Keep on praying…for others and for yourself. Don't give up being thankkful.

Prayer ~ Lord God—give me strength and hope to never give up helping and encouraging others.

Verse of Salvation ~ Now if the Gentiles were enriched because the people of Israel turned down God's offer of salvation, think how much greater a blessing the world will share when they finally accept it. Romans 11:12

Friday’s Feasting at the King’s Table

We can’t live on bread alone. It is a pumpkin time of the year…pies, breads, custards. How about some big pumpkin cookies? These are something fun for which to be thankful. Enormous, soft cookies that are fun to share with others.

Big Pumpkin Cookies

4 cups flour
2 cups rolled oats
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1½ cups butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg (or egg substitute)
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups (16 oz) pumpkin, canned or cooked fresh
1 cup chocolate chips or raisins

Preheat oven 350 degrees. Combine flour, oats, soda, cinnamon and salt. Set aside.
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla, mixing well. Alternate adding dry ingredients and pumpkin, mixing well. Stir in choc chips or raisins. On a parchment lined cookie sheet place ¼ cup of batter for each cookie—spreading out into a nice round shape. Bake 20-25 minutes until cookies are firm and lightly browned. Remove from cookie sheet and colon rack. Can be iced if desired. Makes 32 cookies.
