Meditate on this scripture when Paul changed his plans. What do you do when your plans change? God's plan hasn't changed.
You may be asking why I changed my plan. Do you think I make my plans carelessly? Do you think I am like people of the world who say "Yes" when they really mean "No"? As surely as God is faithful, our word to you does not waver between "Yes" and "No." For Jesus Christ, the Son of God, does not waver between "Yes" and "No." He is the one whom Silas, Timothy, and I preached to you, and as God's ultimate "Yes," he always does what he says. For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!" And through Christ, our "Amen" (which means "Yes") ascends to God for his glory. It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us. 2 Corinthians 1:17-22
In teaching
about making vows during His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said…
You have also heard that our ancestors
were told, 'You must not break your vows; you must carry out the vows you make
to the LORD.' ... Just say a simple, 'Yes, I will,' or 'No, I won't.' Anything
beyond this is from the evil one. Matthew 5:33, 37
Let your “Yes”
be Yes…and your “No” be No. Don’t straddle the fence or be wishy-washy. Paul
talks about a person being tossed about and although it is in the context of
unity in the church, it is applicable to an individual’s goals and convictions
about Christ and the church. We must stand firm for Christ.
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient
with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love.
... This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and
knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the
full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like
children. We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching.
We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they
sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in
every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own
special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy
and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:2, 13-16 (Underlined for
emphasis.)Waves at the Pacific Ocean - Ocean Shores, WA
Don’t be
deceived, tricked or influenced by lies. Think about what you hear so that you
are hearing what God is teaching—the truth. Jesus told Thomas, as well as the
other disciples and us, that He is the way to God the Father.
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the
truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John
14:6
Do you believe Him? Seek to know the truth for yourself today. Time may be short until Jesus Christ returns to call the believers home to Heaven. Then it will be too late to decide if you believe or don’t. Choose today--then don't change your plan--stand firm for Christ. God hasn't changed His plan.
Prayer ~ Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. You died on the cross for my sin—instead of me. Thank You.
Verse of
Salvation ~ (Read all of Hebrews 9) And just as each person is destined to die
once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ died once for all time as a
sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal
with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him. Hebrews
9:27-28
