A Day is Set for Judging

Meditate.

God overlooked people's ignorance about these things (idols) in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead. Acts 17:30-31

The Empty Garden Tomb.
Jesus was raised from the dead.
Jesus is the Creator and He is the one who was raised from the dead. God has appointed Him to be the Judge of the world. This passage also tells us that God has set a day for this judging. He didn’t say it would be a particular day—like Passover, Feast of Trumpets, Christmas or the Fourth of July. It is just known as the Day of Judgment.

That day of judgment will come, says the Sovereign LORD. Everything will happen just as I have declared it. Ezekiel 39:8

But all who reject me and my message will be judged on the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken. John 12:48

For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment. 2 Peter 2:4

And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. 1 John 4:17

Repent! That is a key word associated with judgment. God wants—commands—everyone to repent Jesus told people early in His ministry to “repent” for the Kingdom of God is at hand. Repentance is associated with forgiveness.

"The time promised by God has come at last!" he announced. "The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!" Mark 1:15

Forgiveness is an essential fundamental element of judgment.

Prayer ~ Lord God, I humbly repent of my sin…and ask You to forgive me. I turn around and want to live in a way that is pleasing to You, that honors You.

Verse of Salvation ~ [This occurred after an earthquake when Paul and Silas were imprisoned in Philippi.]

Then he (the jailer) brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household." Acts 16:30-31

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table

Summertime feasts are the best times for a variety of salads. One of my Mom’s favorites was a bean salad that can be made with 3-4-or 5 different beans. I like the variety of the five beans. Hope you get to try this soon. Some variations of this salad slice the onion and pepper instead of chopping. Another adds 15 ounces of bean sprouts.

Bean Salad

1 – 15-oz can green beans
1 – 15-oz can wax beans
1 – 15-oz can red kidney beans
1 – 15-oz can garbanzo beans
1 – 15-oz can Great Northern beans
1 small sweet onion, chopped (~1/2 cup)
1 green pepper, chopped (~1/2 cup)
½ cup apple cider vinegar
½ cup sugar or honey
½ cup canola oil
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
¼ tsp celery seed

Rinse beans and combine with green pepper and onions.
Whisk together vinegar, sugar, oil and seasonings.
Mix all together and refrigerate overnight or for 24 hours before serving.
