Commit yourself to instruction; listen carefully
to words of knowledge. Proverbs 23:12
Listen carefully. Focus on what is being
said to you. In this day when multi-tasking is so prevalent we tend to not
listen specifically to what is being said. We try to focus on two, three or
more things at once. It is impossible to give our total attention to many
things. When Jesus’ friend Martha was likely multitasking and worrying about
lots of things Jesus told her…"My
dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only
one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not
be taken away from her." Luke 10:41-42. Mary was sitting at Jesus’
feet listening intently to His teaching. Are you listening to Jesus’ teaching? Are
you gaining words of knowledge by not just reading His Words, but by really
studying His instructions? Work hard so
you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one
who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15.
Prayer
~ Dear Jesus, give us wisdom to listen carefully to Your teaching that we would
be able to understand it completely, apply it to our lives and explain it to
others.
