Prayer – Lord, You have set us free. Thank you. Your blood purifies us—our conscience—so we can eternally worship the living God. You are awesome. Holy Spirit, please continue to give me insight and remind me to be grateful. I am so gratefully free.
Under
the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could
cleanse people's bodies from ceremonial impurity. Just think how much more the
blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can
worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered
himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. That is why he is the one
who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called
can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to
set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first
covenant. Hebrews
9:13-15Do you have a goat at your house?
The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses, not the goat.
Meditate.
Consider God’s plan for dealing with sin.
Do you
have any goats or cattle at your house?
Remember
in the story of the Passover how the Lord directed Moses to have the Israelites
select a pure, perfect male lamb and take it into their home for a few days.
(See Exodus 12:1-29.) The blood of those lambs saved the Israelites when the
angel of death passed over their homes in the land of Egypt. The sacrificial
system instituted after the Ten Commandments, again called for perfect,
unblemished animals to be given as an atonement for sin. (See Leviticus,
particularly chapters 1 and 4.) Sacrificing animals ended in 70 AD when the
Temple was destroyed—so no one has to deal with this today.
Christ
Himself became the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He died to make us
pure, to set us all free from the wages, the penalty of the sins we committed.
Purity. That is what God wants, expects, and will have in the people who come
before Him on His throne! Can you imagine that Jesus Christ is arbitrating our
cases before the Lord God Almighty? “Hey, Dad. These folks have been washed in
my blood. They are pure and spotless. Let them come before You, forever. Thanks!”
The
New Covenant gives all believers hope for an eternal inheritance—an eternal
life with God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You can count on
that—put your faith in God’s promises.
Are
you making a choice today to put your faith in God’s promises?
Verse
of Salvation ~ Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that
you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this
nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness. 1 Peter 2:2-3
Friday’s
Feast at the King’s Table
It
is grape harvest time! With over 200 wineries within 50 miles of the Tri-Cities
it takes a lot of grapes to keep all those wineries going. Whether it’s
backyard grapes just for eating or vineyards full of grapes to be harvested for
juice and thus, wine. Whichever…enjoy!
