Prayer
– Lord, do You see us as pure and holy? Paul writes that You’ve made us right
with God—and we are pure and holy. Thank you! I eagerly await that day when I
humbly stand before the great throne of the Almighty God…pure and holy. Pure
and holy only because I have been cleansed by Your blood.
God
has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom
itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed
us from sin. Therefore, as the Scriptures say, "If you want to boast,
boast only about the LORD." 1
Corinthians 1:30-31
Meditate.
Consider God’s desire for purity.
Purity.
Do you see only Jesus as pure? What about Adam and Eve before their fall from
grace? In the future, will all believers stand before God, pure and holy?
And may the Lord make your love for
one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you
overflows. May he, as a result, make your hearts strong, blameless, and holy as
you stand before God our Father when our Lord Jesus comes again with all his
holy people. Amen. 1
Thessalonians 3:12-13
Holy.
Holy. Holy. There is a beautiful description of God on His throne in Heaven in
Isaiah’s vision as recorded in the book of Isaiah.
It was in the year King Uzziah died
that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his
robe filled the Temple. Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six
wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their
feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other, "Holy,
holy, holy is the LORD of Heaven's Armies! The whole earth is filled with his
glory!" Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire
building was filled with smoke. Then I said, "It's all over! I am doomed,
for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with
filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the LORD of Heaven's Armies." Then
one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar
with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, "See, this coal
has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are
forgiven." Isaiah
6:1-7
God is Holy.
He wants His followers to be holy—from the time of the Exodus…until now.
So set yourselves apart to be holy,
for I am the LORD your God. Leviticus
20:7
But now you must be holy in
everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say,
"You must be holy because I am holy." 1 Peter 1:15-16
Be holy…stay pure. We, like David as he wrote the Psalms, may want to ask God for purity. What better motivation to be pure than to honor the Lord.
Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I
may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor
you. Psalm 86:11Purity
Is your heart lily pure?
Lord, grant me purity of heart,
so that I may honor You.
Paul also
wrote to the Corinthians about purity. He had lots of trials in his life—probably
far more than any of us will ever experience, but we should follow his advice.
Be ready to prove yourself a faithful follower of the Lord by being pure.
We prove ourselves by our purity,
our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us,
and by our sincere love. We faithfully preach the truth. God's power is working
in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the
left hand for defense. 2
Corinthians 6:6-7
Choices
to make daily for purity and holiness. Choose wisely.
Verse
of Salvation ~ This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time
is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first
believed. Romans
