Prayer – Lord, You have assured us that we will be like
You…transformed. What will we look like? Will others recognize us? Will we know
them?
What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that
our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies
cannot inherit what will last forever. But let me reveal to you a wonderful
secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in
a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the
trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who
are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed
into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into
immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies
that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: "Death is swallowed
up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your
sting?" 1 Corinthians 15:50-55
Meditate. What is transformation?
How will we look when we are transformed? Will we look like our transformed Savior, Jesus Christ? He seemed to be recognizable to His disciples—so as we will be transformed in the blink…or twinkling…of an eye we will still look the same to our family and friends. We’ll know them, too. This is going to be so exciting!
I heard a great explanation for our transformation. We must seek to have pure hearts—for only those with purity will be able to stand before the Almighty God. That is where I hope to be one day. Standing before the throne of God. I hope you are standing there with me. We must be purely transformed in order to be worthy of standing before God. It is only by the blood of Jesus that our hearts and lives can be purified.
Create in me a clean
heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
And I am convinced
that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life,
neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about
tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power
in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will
ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ
Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Teach me your ways,
O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so
that I may honor you. Psalm 86:11
What are we to do? Paul was specific in his teaching of
Timothy.
The purpose of my
instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a
pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. ... Cling to your faith in
Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately
violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked. 1
Timothy 1:5, 19
Don’t let your faith or your relationship with the Lord be
shipwrecked. That relationship is of vital importance to your spiritual life.
Verse of Salvation ~ Sing a new song to the LORD, for he
has done wonderful deeds. His right hand has won a mighty victory; his holy arm
has shown his saving power! The LORD has announced his victory and has revealed
his righteousness to every nation! He has remembered his promise to love and be
faithful to Israel. The ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God. Psalm
98:1-3
