Prayer – Lord, help me to follow Your instructions…to be
strong and courageous like Joshua.
Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who
will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I
would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the
instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the
right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study
this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will
be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed
in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or
discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:6-9
Meditate. Consider God’s word and listen to what He is
saying.
Be strong and courageous. That was God’s instruction
to Joshua. He would be successful if he would: 
Steps at the Mt of Olives.
Follow the right path.
Be strong and courageous.

Follow Moses
instructions.
Don’t turn to the right
or left—just keep on the right path.
Study His word –
continually—all the time.
Meditate on His word
day and night, like all the time!
Don’t be afraid or
discouraged. No fear. Don’t be defeated.
Be strong and
courageous.
Obedience is a choice.
Don't you realize
that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to
sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to
righteous living. Romans 6:16
Joshua challenged the Israelites, giving the classic
response, as underlined below:
"So fear the
LORD and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors
worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the
LORD alone. But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you
will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the
Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But
as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:14-15
Do you want to be a slave to sin or live in righteous
obedience to the Lord as a faithful follower? How to obey God’s instructions? Read
and study God’s word, meditating on it. Choose obedience.
