Meditate on this:
Don't
you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it
again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of
God. What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the spirit God
has placed within us is filled with envy? But he gives us even more grace to
stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, "God opposes the
proud but favors the humble." So humble yourselves before God. Resist the
devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:4-7
Friend of the
world or friend of God? A person can’t be both.
The Greek
word for friend, φίλος, is transliterated as
phílos. The word friendship has the same Greek root…philos. The disciples knew Greek as well as Hebrew or Aramaic.
Come close to God, and God will come close to you.
Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided
between God and the world. James 4:8
How can a
person want to please the anything evil and then think that they can please God?
Whether it is seeking the attention and acceptance of the drinkers, smokers and
partygoers in the high school crowd or the bar hoppers, fast drivers, cursers,
fornicators or satan worshippers in the adult group that deliberately reject God
there can be no doubt that they are not friends
of God. Where do you stand with God? Do you humble yourself before God and seek
to please Him…or do you want to please someone or something in the world that
ultimately rejects God? Choose today whom you will serve.
Don't worship the cross. Worship God...the Creator, Savior, Friend. Cross from Medjugorje |
Like Joshua
in the Old Testament, I choose to serve the Lord.
But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose
today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served
beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you
now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15
Who do you serve?
Prayer
~ I trust You with my life and I hope that the decisions…the choices…I make are
pleasing to You and bring You glory and honor.
